How to gain 16 Million Subscribers on Youtube

This American youtuber has only been creating youtube videos since 2010 and in 8 short years of launching just 1 video every wednesday, she has gathered a watch time of 2.6 billion video views and 18 million subscribers.

Those stats make her the 32nd most subscribed channel on youtube and second most popular channel operated by a woman. Another fun fact is that she’s the first social media star to have a wax figure on display in New York City at Madame Tussauds Museum.

Her very first video went viral which kick started the entire thing. The video was called: “How To Trick People Into Thinking You’re Good Looking” which was viewed over 5.3 million times in its first week.

A second video with 36.2 million views achieving viral status and landed on ABC news was called: “How To Avoid Talking To People You Don’t Want To Talk To”.

So how did she do it?

  1. Take your content to a new level by creating videos around popular trends in an over blown way.  Personal perspective with some comedy rolled in really takes your content to a new level. Jenna twists the idea to create something different than anyone has done. She will take the idea to a new level by amplifying it and performing in an extreme way.

  2. Introduce new characters to your subscribers: from other youtubers to your dog and your dogs friends, there are tons of living things that play a huge roll in your life. Think about how you can introduce them to your audience in an unusual way.

  3. Consistently launch your videos. Even if you just launch 1 video each week. Try to stick with it. People need structure and when they follow you, it’s important that you continue to deliver. This way they can save the date and become part of your ecosphere.

  4. Take people on your journey. It’s important to document your life especially when you travel. Even simple places can be fun when you interact with those spaces uniquely. If you think about how different places you go can become a part of your channel content you may discover some incredible opportunities opening up. Conferences, shows, events, concerts.. just think of the possibilities.
